The Makua like their neighbor's the Makonde carved masks depicting animal faces that combined human characteristics. This Makua hare mask was danced during initiation ceremonies that was reserved for leaders in the bush, also it was danced during the hunting or hopping ritual ceremonies as well as for entertainment.
