Ethiopian painted panels of religious icons related to Byzantine Christian art date back to the 4th century. This painted panel depicts a common theme of Our Lady with the Christ child. Archangels, Michael and Gabriel in the upper corners holding swords. The back panel is painted in colorful rectangles.
