The Yaka carved small slit-drums that were implements used for healing and divination ceremonies. By striking the drum with a stick, the diviner would invoke the spiritual forces to find the cause of an illness or misfortune. The figure exhibits a stylized Yaka face with coffee-bean eyes and below, a torso with hollow chamber.
