The Baule figure represents the other world husband, Blolo bian, the ideal man.  It was used to please the spirit and ensure his good favor and resolve problems such as infertility, illness or incompatibility with their mate.  The figure stands on a circular base with two carved ancestor figures.  The legs are straight supporting a cylindrical torso with a cloth covered phallus.  The arms are carved in relief with hands resting on the abdomen.  The face is pear shaped, hair is crested and scarification on the chest and back.  An old brass medallion with concentric circles hangs from a rope necklace.
