Ekoi skin covered masks of the Cross River region were worn on top of the dancer’s head attached by a basket pedestal. This Janus faced headdress has white pigment eyes, an open mouth with filed teeth and upraised coiffure. These masks were worn by accomplished male dancers during funerals and initiations.
