This Lega mask was used in teaching principals of morality during initiation ceremonies for young boys. These face masks as well as masks worn on the arm were exhibited on fences during the ceremonies. The mask has a heart shaped face, coffee bean eyes, linear nose, diminutive mouth and remnants of white kaolin.
