The Yoruba Ibeji Twins are carved statuettes called Ere Ibeji which were carved as a memorial for deceased twins. The Ibeji twins have wedge-shaped hands and feet, almond eyes, triangular nose and wear beaded necklaces. The figures are owned by mothers who would treat them like living children. Mother’s would wash, feed, dress, sing and dance with their Ibeji figure
