Mossi blacksmiths carved wooden dolls called “biiga,” that were given to young daughters.  These dolls were cared for just like babies and were dressed, washed and danced.  The figures were associated with fertility and accompanied these girls through initiation and into marriage.  This figure a in the style of the Ziniare region.
