Skin covered masks of the NE Cross River area were worn atop the dancer’s head at Ika celebrations and rituals such as initiations and funerals. The headdress is carved of wood covered with antelope skin, elaborate horns, white pigment eyes, open mouth with filed teeth, scarification and a wicker collar attached at the base.
