Songye Kifwebe male masks were carved with geometric features and a high sagittal crest. They were used for witchcraft, sorcery, spell-casting and the dispersion of diseases and epidemics. Also male Kifwebe masks were used for punitive and policing activities as well as honoring the death of a chief.
