A fine Guro Gu mask depicting the ideal beauty of a woman with a narrow face, high domed forehead, scarification and filed teeth.  The face projects from a deep wooden collar with the dancer's costume still attached.  The braided hair forms a topknot with a leather pouch amulet called Sene, that has verses of the Koran. These masks were danced during funeral ceremonies and considered sacred for protecting young wives.
