This Songye fetish figure was used for healing, fertility and protection from evil spirits, sorcerers and hostile powers. The sensitive, small figure is sculpted in a frontal pose rising from a circular base, which supports a short trunk with finely carved hands resting on the abdomen. The face is stylized and there are holes on top of the head, abdomen, ears and arms from use.
