The Pende created divination instruments called “Galukoji,” that diviners used to detect individuals suspected of crimes.  These instruments were observed widespread in the Pende region in the 1920’s and were abandoned in 1950.  This distinctive instrument features a miniature mask facing outward from the end of the mechanism that resembles a wooden accordion.
