The Igbo/Afikpo Yam Knife mask or “mma ji,” was used in the Okumkpa ceremonies during the dry season festivals. The forehead represents a knife or machete, with three peg-like projections below, the eyes are slit and the polychrome painted mask is wrapped in grass coils.
