The Igbo Ada owu cult celebrates the agricultural season by masquerading several masks associated with water spirits. This dark mask combines both humanoid and simian features with flaring nose, open protruding mouth and deep incised lines. The masks are described as evil, mean and twisted, usually danced in large numbers at night.
