The Eastern Pende mask was danced during initiation rituals associated with the men’s fraternity. It has a triangular, heart shaped face with a dark surface. The mask is decorated with red pigmentation, accompanied by geometric patterns. The eyes are slit, brows arched, nose angular, mouth square and the rim is pierced.
