This intriguing Dan mask with narrow eyes and animal fur is known as yi loa glu meaning cold water spirit. The Dan mask is left on the doorstep of the dancer and when he wears the mask, people throw cold water in his face. Villagers then offer him food and pray for his success. Cold water is a token of good faith and luck
