This Bobo Chameleon made of brass was prescribed by a diviner as a protective amulet associated with child birth. The Bobo and Bwa thought of these symbolic representations as “things of the soul,” to counter the spirit force. The chameleon’s tail curls into a spiral which is an important symbolic motif for life and the passage of time.
