Exhibited is an elegantly carved Bembe figure representing an ancestor used in magical and ritual performances associated with religion, politics and healing. The legs are slightly flexed, the trunk is decorated with scarification patterns with extended lozenge shapes. Each hand holds a gourd, the feet are wide and eyes are inlaid with white porcelain.
