This Bassa passport mask was used as a powerful charm for personal protection during forest work, travel and for countering witchcraft. These passport masks were also used to identify the owner while traveling through other communities. The mask is thin and slightly concave, with slant eyes, prominent forehead, nose and mouth and incised coiffure.
