Bamana blacksmiths carved highly stylized doorlocks that functioned to secure doorways to houses, vestibules, sanctuaries, granaries, kitchens and poultry shelters. This Bamana doorlock is decorated with numerous graphic designs and symbols that incorporate Bamana legends, religious beliefs and social values.
