The Senufo equestrian riding a camel is seated in an exaggerated posture with erect arms, shoulders and legs. Senufo riders are associated with power, wealth and status, usually displayed in a diviners or priest shrine. This camel rider may have had associations with Islamic, Dyula merchants who traded in the West African savannah riding camels. The carving is in good condition with abrasions and lost pigment.
